Dynavolt Intact GP reaches the finish line after a tough race in tenth & twelfth

In the Grand Prix of the Netherlands Jonas Folger secured tenth place, while Sandro Cortese crossed the finish line in twelfth position. Now the highlight of the year awaits the Dynavolt Intact GP Crew - the home Grand Prix at Sachsenring!
The Dutch TT, which was taking place on a Sunday for the very first time, had been challenging for both, Jonas Folger and Sandro Cortese. Nevertheless, both Dynavolt Intact GP riders were expecting to be closer to the top, after the eighth race of the season was red flagged three laps to go because it started to rain.
Jonas Folger, who already struggled in the practice sessions and in qualifying with a lack of confidence for the front wheel, couldn’t keep up the speed of his rivals after starting from ninth position into the race on Sunday. For a long time he lined up in the group with Xavier Simeon and Alex Marquez in twelfth position and could only catch up some positions at the end when the tyres of the others started to wear out.
Sandro Cortese showed a strong race, but lost the advantage he had worked for after making some minor mistakes. At the beginning the 26-year-old was able to defend his seventh starting position. Later he dropped to tenth place, but left no air to Alex Rins and Simone Corsi in front of him. For half the distance, he managed to pass by Dominique Aegerter and to take ninth position. As the Intact GP rider finally made a fault in the Strubben turn, his followers took the chance to overtake.
When the team will head to Sachsenring in three weeks time (July 15 to 17), Jonas Folger hopes that a significant change to the folk and swing arm on his 600cc Kalex will bring back the old feeling and confidence he had at the beginning of the season. Sandro Cortese secured points for the fourth time in eight races and climbed up the championship ladder to 19th. At the home race the 26-year-old wants to build on this progress.

The race was by far not what we expected. The start was ok, but it became difficult for me after turn 1. I couldn't keep up with the speed and had to stick with the position I ended up in. I had extreme problems with the grip and the brake coming into the turns. Only when the tyres of the other riders started to wear out a bit, I was able to get further to the front. The performance is not very satisfying at the moment and we are aware of that. Our aim is still to ride at the front of the field. We have already proven what we are capable of but since Jerez things don't seem to be more difficult. It doesn't matter if I am riding with new or used tyres - it is hard for me to find the necessary confidence to ride in the same secure style as in the beginning of the season. For the Sachsenring we will make some significant changes to the fork and swing arm to get back to the fast bike that we are used to. At the moment the easiness and the feeling for pushing to the limit that we had in the beginning is missing somehow. We don't know if that is the solution, but we need to try.
Sandro Cortese
I made two mistakes during the race. On the start-and-finish-straight I slipped and lost some places. A second time I almost had a highsider in the Strubben-turn and lost another second. It made me lose my rhythm and I was caught behind Domi ( Dominique Aegerter), otherwise I may have been able to perform alongside Rins (Alex) and Corsi (Simone). We finished another race and I was able to keep up with the guys at the front for many laps. For the first time in a long time it felt like a complete race for me after Le Mans, Mugello and Barcelona. Of course these results aren't our aim, but I did give my best today. In the end it was only enough for place 12. However, we need to build on that.

We are a bit disappointed with today's results. Especially since our main sponsor Leonard Chen of Dynavolt was on site with us and we wanted to show what we are capable of. That is a real shame, but I have to say that Sandro did have a good race up until the 4 laps to the end. After that he made a few mistake and lost out on some places. Jonas was in my opinion a bit too hesitant in the beginning. He should have been at the back of Rins. One can tell that he is lacking confidence on the bike and that there is a problem with the front of the bike. In this regard we will need to try out new settings at the Sachsenring. I am still hopeful for our home race. We have a good team and good support from our sponsors, as well as engineers and technicians. At home everyone in the team will put out some extra energy to support them.
